Founded in 2016, La Ressource animale is a non-profit organization which focuses on the well-being of animals and public safety. Although the organization is relatively new, the directors and volunteers bring with them vast experience in the Animal industry. Specialists in feline and canine behavior and animal welfare, they have all at some point in time been involved with animal rescue groups, SPCA`s or organizations focusing on animal rights.
Their professional experience has allowed them to make educated findings. People often adopt or purchase an animal without fully realizing what they are engaging themselves to. Lack of knowledge of the breed, lifestyle, body language, etc. Lack of proper training techniques is also key. In the case of dogs, often times certain errors made in the training process can create aggressive behaviors. Given the previously mentioned factors, it is not surprising that the majority of people abandon their pets on average after 2 years. If you consider half of the population of the province of Quebec (4 million people) have at one point in their lives had at least one domestic animal, this average makes for an astounding number of abandoned pets!
We believe the solution to the issue of abandonment and general welfare of animals comes down to educating the public. There is a huge demand for education, however, it is facing a major challenge. Many people do not have the means in order to consult with an expert in animal behavior. Personal financial situations should not be a hurdle for people’s lack of education, training or public safety.
This is why the mission of La Ressource animal is to provide access to education to people in the lower income bracket.
Standing by our humanitarian and charitable mission, our organization aims to
Promote canine education by providing access at a reasonable rate to individuals based on their financial situation.
Defend and promote animal welfare.
Encourage compassion, empathy and respect for all living beings.
Promote harmonious, responsible and safe coexistence with domestic animals.
